The Client

BEAR Kanalservice GmbH is a Swiss plumbing and canal service company offering 24-hour emergency response across central Switzerland. Their services range from drain unblocking and canal cleaning to camera inspection and pipe rehabilitation — the kind of work where customers don’t browse for weeks. When something goes wrong, they search, they call, and they need someone there today.

That urgency is both a challenge and an opportunity. The challenge: you’re competing with companies that have been running Google Ads for years. The opportunity: when the intent is this strong, a well-structured campaign converts at rates you rarely see in other industries.

When BEAR came to us, they had no Google Ads account. No historical data, no audience signals, no conversion tracking. We were starting from a blank page.

The Problem

Starting a Google Ads account from zero in a competitive Swiss market is harder than it sounds. Established competitors — companies that have been running campaigns for years — have something you don’t: history. Google rewards accounts that have earned trust over time with lower costs, better ad positions, and smarter automated bidding.

BEAR had none of that. What they had was a strong service, a real need in the market, and a tight daily budget of CHF 50. The question wasn’t whether Google Ads could work for them. It was whether we could build something solid enough to generate real results before the budget ran out of patience.

We knew the answer depended entirely on one thing: structure.

Our Approach

The most common mistake businesses make with Google Ads management is treating it like a single campaign. One budget, one set of keywords, one ad — pointed at a homepage and left to run. The result is budget wasted on irrelevant searches, poor conversion rates, and the conclusion that “Google Ads doesn’t work.”

It works. It just needs to be built correctly.

For BEAR, we designed four separate campaigns — each targeting a distinct service with its own budget, keywords, and ad creative:

  • Brand — protecting BEAR’s name in search at minimal cost
  • Kanalreinigung — the core service, targeting emergency drain and plumbing queries
  • Kanalinspektion — camera inspection and pipe diagnostics, a higher-margin service
  • Kanalsanierung — pipe rehabilitation and relining, longer sales cycle but higher ticket value

Each campaign had tightly themed ad groups, keyword lists built around real search intent — the phrases people type when a pipe has just burst — and Responsive Search Ads written to match each specific service, not a generic homepage message.

We set up conversion tracking before launch: appointment bookings, message leads, and phone calls. Without this, you’re flying blind. You might be getting clicks, but you have no idea which ones are turning into actual customers.

We also mapped BEAR’s service area across 18 Swiss cantons, monitoring which regions were converting and adjusting bids accordingly. Within weeks, data showed that Luzern and Schwyz were outperforming the account average. We increased bids in those regions. That’s not intuition — that’s what the data told us to do.

The Results

In 34 days — from 16 June to 19 July 2026 — the account generated:

  • 2,485 impressions from targeted, high-intent searches
  • 311 clicks at a 12.52% CTR — nearly double the industry average for home services
  • 19 conversions at a 6.11% conversion rate and CHF 68.26 per lead

For a cold account in a competitive Swiss market, these numbers are strong. The industry average conversion rate for home services sits around 3–4%. BEAR’s account ran at 6.11% in month one, with no historical data to lean on. That’s a result of structure, not luck.

The most efficient campaign was Kanalinspektion — CHF 38.58 per conversion, with a 22.22% conversion rate. Camera inspection and pipe diagnostics carry a higher service value, which means BEAR’s cost-per-customer for this service is extremely competitive even by Swiss standards.

The biggest campaign — Kanalreinigung — generated the most volume: 226 clicks, 7 conversions, CHF 818 in spend. It’s also the one still in Google’s learning phase, meaning the algorithm hasn’t finished optimising. Month two, with more conversion data to work from, should see this campaign improve significantly.

“The first month is always about earning trust — from the client, and from the algorithm. We did both.”

— Arbron Gashi, CEO · BeeDynamic Group LLC

Two keywords stood out as exceptional performers: «rohrsanierung mit inliner» converted at CHF 18.12 per lead, and «abfluss in der küche verstopft» at just CHF 8.90. These are not high-volume queries — but they’re the exact phrases someone types when they have a specific problem and need it solved today. That’s the kind of search intent that converts.

What This Case Teaches Us

BEAR’s story isn’t unusual. Most service businesses come to us in one of two situations: they’ve never tried Google Ads and don’t know where to start, or they tried it themselves and concluded it doesn’t work.

In almost every case, the problem isn’t Google Ads. It’s how the account was built.

A plumbing company running one campaign with broad keywords and a CHF 30 daily budget, pointing to a slow homepage with no click-to-call button, will get poor results. Not because the platform failed — but because none of the pieces were put together correctly.

What BEAR’s results demonstrate is that when the structure is right — when campaigns are segmented by service, when keywords match real search intent, when conversion tracking is in place before day one, and when the landing page gives people an immediate reason to call — Google Ads works in exactly the way it’s supposed to.

CHF 68 per lead. 19 leads in the first month. For a business where a single job can be worth hundreds or thousands of francs, that’s a straightforward return on investment.

And it’s month one. The account is still learning.
