The Client

Zwillingsduft.ch is a Swiss fragrance brand offering premium dupe perfumes – high-quality alternatives to designer and niche luxury fragrances, starting at CHF 19.90. With 30% parfum oil concentration, IFRA certification, and Swiss production, the brand positions itself at the intersection of luxury and accessibility: the same olfactory experience as a CHF 300 designer fragrance, at a fraction of the price.

BeeDynamic built everything from zero: brand identity, Shopify store design, UX architecture, content structure, and multilingual setup. The brief was to create a store that looks and feels like a luxury fragrance brand — without looking like a discount shop.

That’s a harder design challenge than it sounds.

The Design Challenge

The fragrance dupe market has a perception problem. “Dupe” implies cheap, imitation, low quality. The design job was to completely reframe that perception — to make zwillingsduft.ch feel aspirational, trustworthy, and premium from the first second a visitor lands on the homepage.

At the same time, the store had to convert. Luxury aesthetics are easy to achieve by removing friction — but e-commerce conversion requires friction in the right places: clear product information, social proof, price anchoring, and multiple paths to purchase. The design had to balance both.

And it had to work in three languages simultaneously — German, French, and English — serving the full Swiss market without feeling like a translation exercise.

Brand Identity

Before a single Shopify page was built, we developed the brand identity that would define everything else.

Visual Language

The Zwillingsduft visual identity is built around a single design principle: restraint. Luxury brands don’t shout — they let silence do the work. We chose a deep near-black (#111111) as the brand’s anchor colour, paired with clean white space and a typographic wordmark. No overcrowded layouts, no gradient backgrounds, no visual noise. Every element earns its place on the page.

The result is a brand that reads as premium at a glance — before the customer has even read a word of copy.

Brand Voice

The copy strategy reinforced the visual identity: aspirational without being pretentious, specific without being technical. Phrases like “Dein Luxusmoment”, “Signature-Duft”, and “Berausche deine Sinne” position the product as an experience, not a substitute. The word “dupe” is used strategically in SEO contexts — but the brand’s own voice always leads with desire, not comparison.

Price Anchoring

One of the most effective brand decisions was the consistent display of the original designer price alongside the Zwillingsduft price. “CHF 310.00 — Spare CHF 262.10 zum Original” does two things simultaneously: it communicates extraordinary value, and it legitimises the product by referencing a real luxury alternative. This isn’t a cheap perfume. It’s a CHF 310 experience at CHF 19.10.

Shopify Design Switzerland — Store Architecture

The store architecture was designed to serve three distinct types of visitor: the brand-aware customer who knows which designer fragrance they want to duplicate, the category browser who shops by gender or mood, and the discovery visitor who arrives from a blog article or social media with no specific product in mind.

Homepage — First Impressions

The homepage opens with a full-screen video hero — a deliberate luxury signal. Still images can look premium. A well-produced video communicates production values instantly. Below the fold, the structure guides visitors through multiple entry points:

  • Designer brand navigation — 15 luxury houses including Louis Vuitton®, Tom Ford®, Dior®, Byredo®, Xerjoff®, By Kilian® — for visitors who know exactly what they’re looking for
  • Category navigation — Damen, Herren, Unisex, Sets, Pheromone, Bestseller, Autodüfte — for browsers who shop by type
  • Bestseller section — social proof through popularity, featuring the store’s highest-converting products with mood descriptors (TikTok Trend, Fresh Wave, Romantic, Warm & Elegant)
  • New arrivals section — urgency and freshness for returning visitors
  • Pheromone collection — a distinct product category with its own narrative and emotional positioning

Product Pages

Product pages were built to convert — not just to display. Each product page includes the original designer reference, price anchoring, scent mood descriptors, concentration information (30% parfum oil), IFRA certification badge, and customer reviews. The “Spare CHF X zum Original” value display appears prominently on every product card and product page — keeping the value proposition front and centre throughout the purchase journey.

Fragrance Quiz

One of the most significant UX additions was the integrated fragrance quiz — a personalised recommendation tool that guides undecided visitors toward the right scent. For a product category where personal preference is everything and visitors can’t smell the product before buying, reducing uncertainty at the decision point directly improves conversion rate.

Trust Architecture

Trust signals were built into every layer of the store:

  • 511 verified reviews displayed via Judge.me, with a 4.7/5 average rating
  • Swiss Shop badge — Swiss origin as a quality signal in the Swiss market
  • IFRA certification — the fragrance industry’s international quality and safety standard
  • 24h shipping displayed in the announcement bar on every page
  • 9 payment methods — Klarna, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa, Mastercard, Shop Pay, American Express, UnionPay — reducing purchase friction for every customer segment

Multilingual Architecture

The store runs natively in three languages — German (primary), French, and English — with correct hreflang implementation and language-specific URL structures. All product pages, collection pages, and blog content exist in each language. This wasn’t a simple translation layer — it required building a content architecture that works independently in each language, with SEO optimisation applied separately to each version.

“The design job was to make a CHF 19.90 product feel like a luxury purchase. Every element — from the video hero to the price anchoring — was there to do exactly that.”

— Arbron Gashi, CEO · BeeDynamic Group LLC

The Result

zwillingsduft.ch launched as a fully operational, conversion-optimised Shopify store — designed to compete visually with luxury fragrance brands, structured to convert visitors across all three customer types, and built for long-term growth through SEO, social media, and direct traffic.

  • 511 customer reviews accumulated — 4.7/5 average rating across all products
  • 50+ products listed with full multilingual optimisation
  • 3 languages operating independently with correct hreflang
  • 9 payment methods integrated
  • Fragrance quiz, video hero, trust architecture — all live from day one

The SEO results that followed — 7,940 organic clicks, 350,000 impressions, and +87% click growth in 6 months — were built on this foundation. A store that looks credible converts paid and organic traffic. A store that doesn’t, wastes both.

What This Case Teaches Us

The fragrance dupe market is a masterclass in the power of positioning. The product is identical in concept to dozens of competitors. The difference between zwillingsduft.ch and a generic dupe shop is entirely in how the brand presents itself — in the design language, the copy voice, the price anchoring strategy, and the trust architecture.

Design is not decoration. For an e-commerce brand in a perception-sensitive market, design is the product. The first 3 seconds a visitor spends on the homepage determine whether they stay and explore — or leave and find a competitor. Everything BeeDynamic built for Zwillingsduft was in service of making those 3 seconds count.
